Students from the class of 2021 celebrated one of the most exciting days in their professional journey鈥擬atch Day. Here they share their personal match story, what has inspired them along the way and what advice they would give to students starting the journey today.
Where did you match?Tulane University - New Orleans, Louisiana
Internal Medicine-Pediatrics. I chose this specialty because of the appeal of being able to treat both adults and children of any acuity in any setting. To me, it鈥檚 the best double major there is.
When I found out that I matched I was relieved and thrilled.
I鈥檝e wanted to be a doctor as long as I can remember, but my interest was solidified when I was 13. At that time, I would visit with a little girl who had cancer. In fact, she was treated in the same hospital where I matched.
Your journey is not everyone else鈥檚 journey鈥攁nd that鈥檚 okay. Mine was certainly a roundabout journey. Don鈥檛 compare your story to anyone. Stay your course and true to yourself. Do your best and constantly look for the learning opportunity.
