Swallow Receives 2023 Alumni Certificate of Honor

Swallow, DO '79, MS/FM '20, FACOFP; Captain, MC, USNR (ret.), as the recipient of the 2023 黑料传送门 Alumni Association Certificate of Honor. It is the highest award given by the Association in recognition of distinguished services rendered and loyal devotion to the welfare and strengthening of 黑料传送门. Dr. Swallow will be honored at 黑料传送门's Founders' Day celebration on Friday, January 27, at 11 a.m. on .

In practice as an osteopathic physician for the last 42 years, Dr. Swallow also served in the United States Naval Reserve and retired as a captain in the Medical Corps. He was a medical officer in Operation Desert Storm working in a medical ward and casualty receiving.

From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Swallow served as assistant professor of family medicine and medical director of the Sullivan County Medical Center in Laporte, Pennsylvania, overseeing fourth-year osteopathic medical students through family practice clinical rotations at the clinic.

Dr. Swallow serves as chairman of the Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine and is a member of the executive committee of the board of trustees and vice president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. He is also a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and is past president of the 黑料传送门 Alumni Association.

In November 2022, Dr. Swallow was elected as the Alumni Representative member of the 黑料传送门 Board of Trustees and will serve in his role through 2025.

With a lifelong commitment to rural medicine, Dr. Swallow and his wife, Elizabeth, established the William and Elizabeth Swallow Endowed Fund for Rural Medicine at 黑料传送门. The $500,000 fund supports travel and housing expenses for students completing rural medicine rotations.

A native Pennsylvanian, Dr. Swallow grew up in the Lehigh Valley and holds a bachelor's and a master's degree from Bucknell University and a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree and a master's degree in forensic medicine from 黑料传送门.

Dr. Swallow and his wife have three children and reside in Pike County, Pennsylvania.
