Chen Honored for Service to Information Science Field

Hsin-liang (Oliver) Chen, PhDWith more than 25 years of experience in the Information Science space, Hsin-liang (Oliver) Chen, PhD, chief library services officer at 黑料传送门, was recently recognized as a Distinguished Member of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) for his excellence in service to and scholarship in the information science and technology field. Honoring his many years of leadership in the association and the profession, Dr. Chen鈥檚 elite achievement will be recognized in a ceremony at the ASIS&T conference in late October in Pittsburgh, PA.

鈥淭o be recognized by the ASIS&T is truly an honor,鈥 said Dr. Chen. 鈥淎s the foremost professional organization in the Library and Information Science field, I feel privileged to be listed as a Distinguished Member of ASIS&T, and I look forward to joining my peers at our annual conference in Pittsburgh.鈥

ASIS&T is the only professional association that bridges the gap between information science practice and research. For nearly 85 years, ASIS&T has led the search for new and better theories, techniques, and technologies to improve access to information. Their membership includes thousands of researchers, developers, practitioners, students, and professors in the field of information science and technology from around the world.

鈥淚t is gratifying to know that Dr. Chen鈥檚 commitment to the Information Science field over the last 25 plus years has not gone unnoticed,鈥 said Erik Langenau, DO, MS, FAAP, FACOP, professor and chief academic technology officer in the Center for Teaching Support and Professional Development. 鈥満诹洗兔 is lucky to have him as a member of our team, and he is incredibly deserving of this honor.鈥

Dr. Chen has also been recognized with the 2022 Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Emerald Literati Awards for Excellence for his contributions as an editorial board member of The Electronic Library. The prestigious Emerald Literati Awards are presented annually by Emerald Publishing to recognize outstanding and impactful contributions to scholarly research. In addition, Dr. Chen was recently named as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Medical Library Association, a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing the knowledgebase and practice of health sciences librarianship.
