Highlighting the role of higher education in the future of health care, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (黑料传送门) President and CEO Jay S. Feldstein, DO 鈥81, recently participated in a panel discussion as part of the HealthKey Summit, a three-day event with some of the region鈥檚 brightest thought leaders and innovators.

Joining Dr. Feldstein on the panel was John Fry, president of Drexel University, and Joseph A. DiAngelo, Jr., EdD, dean of the Erivan J. Haub School of Business at St. Joseph鈥檚 University. The discussion was moderated by Marcy Feldman Rost, former executive vice president and chief strategy and communications officer at Independence Blue Cross.

The panel discussed the unique role, forum and reach of higher education to impact future healthcare professionals and consumers, with panelists weighing in on the current and evolving role in health care they see for their institution and for higher education overall.

In his remarks to the audience, Dr. Feldstein stressed the importance students working across disciplines to gain experience outside of their primary focus areas. 鈥淭he only way we truly achieve holistic care is together,鈥 said Dr. Feldstein. 鈥淧rimary care is a team sport. Which is why inter-professional experience is just as important during education as after.鈥

Other guests joining the inaugural event included Brian L. Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast, Gregory Deavens, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross, and Patrick Kennedy, former U.S. Representative and founder of the Kennedy Forum. HealthKey Summit was presented and hosted by Dune View Strategies, a strategic advisory firm led by former IBX President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty, and Futuretense Health, the dedicated healthcare practice of Brian Communications, a full-service communications agency.
