黑料传送门 Georgia students, faculty and staff members showed up and showed out at the Paint Gwinnett
Pink 5K Walk/Run event hosted by Northside Hospital on Saturday, October 15 at Coolray
Field in Lawrenceville. Wearing pink 黑料传送门 Georgia bandanas, a team of 50 participated
in the event, which attracted hundreds with osteopathic medicine student Clint Seales (DO '24) taking first place with a time of 19:26.
School of Pharmacy students provided blood pressure screenings and diabetes risk assessments for community members under the supervision of Irandokht N. Khaki, PharmD, MS, assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. And the Simbulance, 黑料传送门 Georgia's mobile medical unit complete with mannequins, drew a big crowd.
For the fifth year, 黑料传送门 Georgia served as an event sponsor, with funding from the Office of the Chief Campus Officer and the Community Wellness Initiative. Kim Lucier, director of campus operations, led the event.
She said, 鈥淲e had an amazing 黑料传送门 Georgia turnout for the seventh annual Paint Gwinnett Pink, the largest breast cancer 5K in Gwinnett County. Participating in events like these is rewarding for all.鈥�
This year, the fundraising proceeds will go toward continuing the purchase of digital
tomosynthesis machines for the hospital's Gwinnett Breast Center locations, providing
additional cutting-edge imaging technology, mammograms, transportation and other assistance
needed for cancer treatments, with all proceeds staying in Gwinnett County.
According to the Paint Gwinnett Pink website, the event is dedicated to 鈥渃elebrating survivors, supporting fighters, remembering the departed and raising awareness and funds for breast cancer programs.鈥�
To date, the 2022 Paint Gwinnett Pink event has raised more than $1.2 million with 黑料传送门 Georgia's $1,350 donation placing the college on the event's team honor roll.
With a strong commitment to student volunteer efforts and community wellness, 黑料传送门 President and CEO Jay S. Feldstein, DO 鈥�81, established the Community Wellness Initiative (CWI) to enhance the culture of holistic health and well-being on 黑料传送门鈥檚 campuses and in the communities they serve. The CWI aims to promote cross-campus collaboration in educational and health services programming and resources to support the physical, mental, nutritional and environmental wellness of the College鈥檚 communities in Philadelphia and in Suwanee and Moultrie, Georgia. Focus areas include direct patient care, health and wellness education, and clinical and community-based research.
黑料传送门 Georgia has been serving students and the community for 20 years as a branch campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (黑料传送门), a private, not-for-profit, accredited institution of higher education established in 1899.
