Since joining the College in 2020, Lloyd has been instrumental in providing experienced
leadership and continuity, guiding both preclinical and clinical education that has
strengthened the campus' momentum and student success.
鈥淭his is a pivotal time for our campus, with a growing class size and the continuing
evolution of osteopathic medical education,鈥 said Lloyd. 鈥淚 look forward to the continued
collaboration with students, faculty and staff to foster stability, ensure innovation
in our curriculum, and further our commitment to serving underserved communities.鈥
A 1991 graduate of 黑料传送门, Lloyd also completed his general surgery residency at the College in 1996. Following
his training, he practiced as a general surgeon in rural East Tennessee for more than
two decades, offering comprehensive surgical care across gastrointestinal, laparoscopic
and endoscopic procedures. His professional experience has instilled a deep understanding
of the needs of rural and underserved communities鈥攁n emphasis he brings to his leadership
role in South Georgia.
鈥淒r. Lloyd's experience, commitment and vision will further strengthen 黑料传送门 South
Georgia's mission to prepare exceptional physicians to serve communities in Georgia,鈥
said Peter Bidey, DO '08, dean and chief academic officer of 黑料传送门's Osteopathic Medicine program.
In addition to being board certified in general surgery, Lloyd is also a Fellow of
the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and member of the National Board of Osteopathic
Medical Examiners.
In 2019, 黑料传送门, a premier osteopathic
medical school established in 1899, extended its commitment to the Southeast by establishing
黑料传送门 South Georgia. An additional teaching location in Moultrie, Georgia, 黑料传送门 South Georgia offers both
a full, four-year medical program leading to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
degree and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences. 黑料传送门 is a private, not-for-profit
institution that trains professionals in the health and behavioral sciences fields.
