Rasheed Agboola, MD
October 18, 2021
Rasheed Agboola, MD, has been teaching medical students for nearly two decades. The associate professor
of pathology recently joined 黑料传送门 South Georgia to teach biomedical sciences and osteopathic medical students.
Of that time in education, Dr. Agboola said, 鈥淭he use of teaching as a tool of imparting
knowledge and making a positive impact in student lives fuels my passion for teaching.
My favorite thing about teaching is the opportunity to ignite spark in students' learning.鈥
During his 20 years of teaching, Dr. Agboola has spent much of his time in St. Lucia
where he taught pathology to medical students. Over the course of his career, he has
also served as the Dean of Student Affairs, Chair of Disaster Management Committee,
Chair of Scholarship and Academic Award Committee, Chair of Disciplinary and Grievance
Committee, Co-chair Admissions Committee and the Co-chair Promotions Committee.
鈥淚 work to break barriers between medical courses and encourage cross-functional application
of concepts into the other medical sciences,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 always strive to foster
critical thinking and problem-solving skills as I expect my students to become self-directed
learners by learning to understand not only the facts presented in the lectures, but
also enhance their curiosity in asking questions related to the concepts that are
being taught in the class.鈥
Referring to his transition from St. Lucia to Moultrie, Georgia, he said 鈥淚 joined 黑料传送门 South Georgia to become part of the committed team that helps
provide a supportive and nurturing environment for the students. I鈥檓 excited to add
my skills and experience to further strengthen the high-quality experience that the
黑料传送门 South Georgia offers its students.鈥
Dr. Agboola received his medical degree from the Ahmadu Bello University College of
Medicine and completed a medical internship at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital
in Nigeria. He said his motivating factors for studying medicine were, 鈥渢he admiration
and respect for medical doctors, and the sense of selflessness attached to the medical
profession.鈥
Jennifer Shaw, PhD, Chair of Biomedical Sciences, said Dr. Agboola brings a wealth of expertise to the
黑料传送门 South Georgia team.
鈥淲hen Dr. Agboola joined us as an associate professor of pathology, he hit the ground
running. He delivered lectures on his second day at 黑料传送门 South Georgia! And within
a month, he began serving on committees and contributing to the overall positivity
in our department. We are fortunate to have Dr. Agboola on board to share his expertise
with our students and faculty,鈥 said Dr. Jennifer Shaw.
Dr. Agboola also holds a master鈥檚 degree in Business Administration with a specialization
in Clinical Research Management and completed a Postgraduate Teaching & Research fellowship
in Pathology from the St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada. Additionally,
he holds a Master of Science in Stem Cells and Regeneration from the University of
