Doctor of Pharmacy student Phuongloan Hoang (PharmD '25) was onsite at her clinical rotation when she
received the email that she had matched in pharmacy at Emory Decatur Hospital in Decatur,
Georgia. 鈥淚 received the email notification and my heart started racing. I opened
the email and immediately saw the word 'congratulations,' and was in total disbelief.鈥
Hoang initially decided to pursue a general PGY1 program because of the complexities
and 鈥済ray areas鈥 that come with learning about medicine and wanting to provide the
best quality of care for patients. At 黑料传送门 Georgia, she was often encouraged to ask
鈥渨hy鈥 throughout her studies which cultivated a mindset of curiosity and critical
thinking that she now carries into every patient interaction.
鈥淏y exposing me to diverse and challenging clinical scenarios, 黑料传送门 Georgia has helped me develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively, think critically
under pressure, and maintain my passion for medicine.鈥
鈥淔or students like Phuongloan Hoang interested in a pharmacy career pathway that highly
encourages residency, we're proud they match with their desired program,鈥 said. Sara (Mandy) Reece, PharmD, dean and chief academic officer of the School of Pharmacy at 黑料传送门 Georgia. 鈥淩esidency, fellowship and other post graduate training opportunities
are critical for professional growth. I look forward to seeing where their talents
will take them in the world of healthcare.鈥
Hoang isn't shy to admit that pharmacy school is challenging, but she encourages incoming
students to remember that perseverance is key and that by staying committed to your
practice, that drive will keep you motivated through even the toughest of times.
鈥淪tay curious, stay compassionate, and embrace the journey,鈥 she shared. 鈥淪uccess
and happiness will follow when you're doing what you love.鈥
