Veit, DO '76, Named to ACGME Board of Directors

Professional headshot photograph of Kenneth Veit, DO '76, MBA, provost, senior vice president of academic affairs and dean at 黑料传送门The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) has appointed Kenneth Veit, DO '76, MBA, provost, senior vice president of academic affairs and dean at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (黑料传送门) to its Board of Directors, effective September 30, 2020.

鈥淚t is an honor to serve on the ACGME Board of Directors,鈥 said Veit. 鈥淚 look forward to working with my colleagues to offer recommendations to help ensure our graduate medical education institutions continue to be the best in the world.鈥

Dr. Veit will serve a three-year term with the ability for reinstatement for a second three-year term beginning in September 2023. The ACGME Board of Directors is made up of 42 members representing a diverse group of specialties and subspecialties.

鈥淣ow more than ever in these days of COVID-19 we need our best and brightest to serve this remarkable profession,鈥 said Karen J. Nichols, DO, MA, MACOI, FACP, CS-F, chair of the ACGME Board of Directors. 鈥淭hank you for your willingness to serve and welcome to the ACGME Board of Directors.鈥

The ACGME is a private, non-profit, professional organization responsible for the accreditation of over 12,000 residency and fellowship programs and the approximately 865 institutions that sponsor these programs in the United States. Residency and fellowship programs educate approximately 145,000 resident and fellow physicians in 157 specialties and subspecialties. The ACGME's mission is to improve health care and population health by assessing and advancing the quality of resident physicians' education through accreditation. 黑料传送门 earlier this year received accreditation through ACGME for all of its residencies and fellowships.
