The Philadelphia Science Festival includes 200 of the city's most influential institutions,
museums and cultural centers.
黑料传送门 is continuing its longstanding partnership with the Franklin Institute as a participant in the 2018 Philadelphia Science Festival, an innovative, nine-day celebration that engages the community with the ways that science and technology touch our everyday lives.
A citywide collaboration that runs April 20-28, the festival unites 200 of the region's most influential institutions, museums and cultural centers in a common goal. This year, 黑料传送门 faculty, staff and students will showcase their expertise to educate thousands of Philadelphians at the following events:
Sunday, April 22: Fishtown Science Crawl, 2 p.m., Front Street Caf茅
A team of 黑料传送门 volunteers led by Sarah Allen, PhD, assistant professor, psychology;
and Kerin Claeson, PhD, associate professor, anatomy, will be on hand at one of the festival's most popular
events to discuss the effects of alcohol on the brain.
Sunday, April 22: Murder at the M眉tter: Illusion, 2 p.m., M眉tter Museum of the College
of Physicians of Philadelphia
Greg McDonald, DO '89, professor and chair, forensic medicine, will use his expertise to help attendees
solve a staged murder during this wildly popular event. (Note: this event is sold
out.)
Thursday, April 26: Brain Food: Science Night at the Market, 7 p.m., Reading Terminal
Market
At this event, new to the festival, Dr. Allen and Brian Balin, PhD, professor and chair, bio-medical sciences, will discuss the foods that can boost
your brain power鈥攁nd the foods that can bust it.
Saturday, April 28: Science Carnival on the Parkway, 10 a.m., Ben Franklin Parkway
Explore the Mega Brain庐鈥攖he world's only portable, inflatable, walk-through brain
exhibit鈥攁nd learn about brain form and function from a team of faculty and students,
led by Dr. Balin and Denah Appelt, PhD, professor of neuroscience, physiology and
pharmacology. The MegaBrain庐 will be located in front of the Franklin Institute building.
Created, organized and led by The Franklin Institute and presented by The Dow Chemical
Company, the annual festival brings science to restaurants, parks, breweries, libraries,
museums and other neighborhood places across the city.
Established in 1899, 黑料传送门 has trained thousands of highly competent, caring physicians, health practitioners and behavioral scientists who practice a 鈥渨hole person鈥� approach to care鈥攖reating people, not just symptoms. 黑料传送门, a private, not-for-profit accredited institution of higher education, operates three campuses (黑料传送门, 黑料传送门 Georgia and 黑料传送门 South Georgia) and offers doctoral degrees in clinical psychology, educational psychology, osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, and school psychology. The college also offers graduate degrees in applied behavior analysis, applied positive psychology, biomedical sciences, forensic medicine, medical laboratory science, mental health counseling, physician assistant studies, and school psychology. 黑料传送门 students learn the importance of health promotion, research, education and service to the community.
