黑料传送门 Recognized for Commitment to Diversity
October 16, 2017黑料传送门 today received the 2017 Health
Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.
The award recognizes U.S. medical, dental, pharmacy, osteopathic, nursing, and allied
health schools that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.
鈥淒iversity is a core component of our institutional identity,鈥 said Jay S. Feldstein, DO 鈥81, president and CEO. 鈥淢ore than just a top-down initiative, we strive to imbue our
entire campus culture with a sense of inquiry, respect and appreciation.鈥
鈥満诹洗兔赔檚 commitment to diversity is a key pillar of 黑料传送门 2020, the College鈥檚 strategic
vision,鈥 said Marcine Pickron-Davis, PhD, chief campus and community relations officer. 鈥淭he initiatives we have established
on campus to foster a more welcoming and inclusive campus exemplifies 黑料传送门 as a diversity
champion and leader in the field of osteopathic medical education.鈥
Over the past several years, 黑料传送门 has embarked on several initiatives aimed at creating
a more diverse and inclusive campus climate. Most recently, the offices of Admissions
and Diversity and Community Relations have partnered with minority-focused higher
education organizations to actively recruit more minority students and faculty members.
Additionally, later this month the College will launch a new, annual lecture series on the unique health issues of the LGBTQ community.
鈥淭he Health Professions HEED Award process consists of a comprehensive and rigorous
application that includes questions relating to the recruitment and retention of students
and employees鈥攁nd best practices for both鈥攃ontinued leadership support for diversity,
and other aspects of campus diversity and inclusion. We take a holistic approach to
reviewing each application in deciding who will be named a HEED Award recipient. Our
standards are high, and we look for institutions where diversity and inclusion are
woven into the work being accomplished every day across their campus,鈥 said Lenore
Pearlstein, publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.
All HEED Award winners will be featured in the December 2017 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. For more information about the 2017 Health Professions HEED Award, visit
