Family Medicine Professors Installed as POFPS Leaders

Spyropoulos, DO '92, smiles and wears white physician coatOn Saturday, August 6, 2022, Peter Bidey, DO '08, MSEd, vice-chair of the Department of Family Medicine and George N. Spyropoulos, DO '92, assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine, were installed as leaders of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society (POFPS). During the organization's Annual Business Meeting, Dr. Bidey was named president and Dr. Spyropoulos was elected to the Board of Trustees. Both professors will hold these positions from 2022 to 2024.

According to the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association website, POFPS is a divisional society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP). POFPS currently represents over 1,000 licensed osteopathic family physicians, plus residents and interns, in Pennsylvania. POFPS aims to be a leader for education, advocacy, practice enhancement and wellness for osteopathic family physicians.

Dr. Bidey was installed at the ACOFP Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX in March 2022. Dr. Bidey was also named the 2021 ACOFP Osteopathic Family Medicine Educator of the Year.

This year鈥檚 POFPS Annual Business Meeting was held at the Hershey Lodge, in Hershey, PA.
