黑料传送门 Hosts Healthy Aging Community Day
October 5, 2022On Wednesday, September 28, 黑料传送门's Community Wellness Initiative (CWI) hosted a Healthy Aging Community Day for residents of the Park Tower Apartments.
Park Tower is an apartment community near the Philadelphia campus for people sixty-two years of age and older or residents with disabilities. The day
offered residents a day of edutainment focused on physical and mental health and the
opportunity to visit resource tables and socialize with their fellow residents.
鈥淚t was a great day with lots of engagement with the Park Tower residents,鈥 shared
Sean Morgan, 黑料传送门's sponsorship officer. In total, there were one hundred and twenty-five
participants. The day included a variety of health events, including a presentation
from 黑料传送门 professor, Nicol Joseph, DO, program director for the geriatric fellowship and medical director of 黑料传送门's Comprehensive
Care Center, on overall health and wellness; a presentation on fall prevention from
Maureen Krouse, of event sponsor Main Line Health, and blood pressure screenings administered
by the 黑料传送门 Hearts student-run clinic.
In addition to health-focused events, residents enjoyed music from DJ Disko and Bingo,
facilitated by Marvetta Coleman of Highmark Whole Care. Guests were also invited to
enjoy a lunch from Usrah Catering food truck and dessert from Rita鈥檚 Italian Ice.
鈥淲e are excited to be working with our local community to promote health and well-being,鈥
said Stephen Castellano, chief practice operations officer for the . 鈥淓vents like this give us the chance to show our patients and community members
how important they are. Working with the CWI, we can enhance what we do at the 黑料传送门
Healthcare Centers and increase patient engagement and 黑料传送门's presence in the communities
we serve,鈥 continued Castellano.
Regarding future events, Flo Byarms, director of 黑料传送门's Community Wellness Initiative, shared, 鈥淲e are hoping to build
on the momentum and continue to promote healthy aging with the residents at Park Tower
for many years to come!鈥
