Recently, the 黑料传送门鈥檚 (黑料传送门) American Psychology
Association鈥檚 (APA) Division 19 Military Psychology Chapter (Div19) hosted a virtual
fundraiser to raise money to put together care packages for troops currently serving
overseas. The fundraiser raised $1,575 which will be used to assemble care packages
for 180 active-duty Army personnel and 50 active-duty Marines, stationed across the
Middle East.
鈥淎s Div19 leaders, this was our first big undertaking for this school year, and we were really excited about it. This has been something that we鈥檝e had in the works for over a year and we are so pleased to surpass our anticipated goal of $1,000,鈥� shared Sarah Fox (MS/CCHP 鈥�21), president of the 黑料传送门 Div19 chapter.
Ms. Fox also shared that the group plans to fundraise for the Headstrong Project in the spring term. The Headstrong Project is a national nonprofit that supports current and past military personnel by connecting them with mental health professionals. 鈥淲e are truly passionate about making connections that support our brave military members, current and veteran status,鈥� continued Ms. Fox.
黑料传送门's APA Division 19 Military Psychology Chapter, known as Div19, aims to supplement the traditional, graduate level psychology education with military-specific programming, training and educational opportunities. This includes plans for advocacy and volunteer opportunities as well. Current active members of Div19 span across multiple years and disciplines, including counseling, clinical psychology and osteopathic medicine. The faculty advisor for the chapter is Bradley Rosenfield, PsyD 鈥�05, associate professor and practicum coordinator, clinical psychology.
The national mission of the APA Division 19 Student Chapter Network is threefold: to increase the total number of qualified and interested candidates for commissioned or civil service as United States Air Force, Army, Navy or Veterans Affairs (VA) Psychologists; to develop strong leaders in anticipation of eventual Military Service and/or participation in Division 19 governance and to enhance Military cultural awareness in civilian graduate education programs with respect to treatment of US Military Personnel (current and previous) and their families.
Established in 1899, 黑料传送门 has trained thousands of highly competent, caring physicians, health practitioners and behavioral scientists who practice a 鈥渨hole person鈥� approach to care鈥攖reating people, not just symptoms. 黑料传送门, a private, not-for-profit accredited institution of higher education, operates three campuses (黑料传送门, 黑料传送门 Georgia and 黑料传送门 South Georgia) and offers doctoral degrees in clinical psychology, educational psychology, osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, and school psychology.
