Get to Know Milton B.J. Lewis
黑料传送门 Georgia鈥檚 Associate Director of Admissions
April 29, 2024Spoiler alert: 黑料传送门 Georgia Associate Director of Admissions Milton B.J. Lewis loves the College for its people.
A higher education professional for 15 years, Lewis oversees 黑料传送门 Georgia鈥檚 admissions
process for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences programs.
Though he鈥檚 a proud 鈥渟elf-conversationalist,鈥 Lewis recently shared how he overcomes
professional challenges, his goals, and which campus job he鈥檇 want to have the most
if he wasn鈥檛 in Admissions.
What is your background? How did you come to 黑料传送门?
I've been in higher education for the last 15 years. Eleven of those years have been
in admissions. I started out working with undergraduates and progressed into enrolling
for graduate and doctoral degrees. Most recently I worked in law admissions in the nation's capital before coming to
黑料传送门 last year to oversee the DO and Biomed programs.
What are some of the challenges you see in your role? How do you plan to face those
challenges?
The biggest challenge, and my favorite part of my role because I love a healthy challenge,
is the fast pace of my department and consistent workload. I have found the best way
to overcome these challenges is to plan properly. I begin each day with a to-do list
and prioritize everything based on what moves the meter forward the most toward my
larger goal.
What is your favorite thing about 黑料传送门?
My favorite thing about 黑料传送门 is going to sound really clich茅, but it鈥檚 true: I love
the people I get to work with every day. This work is truly rewarding; however, it鈥檚
the amazing team I get to work with and the faculty of the programs I oversee that
make it even more enriching.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I like to drive in silence. Driving is my thinking time. While I will listen to a
podcast or music on occasion, I love to drive and just think or talk to myself. Yes,
I'm a proud self-conversationalist.
What鈥檚 one professional goal you hope to achieve in the next year?
I hope to join more professional organizations and attend more conferences. Professional
development and networking are key to longevity and success.
If you could switch jobs with anyone in the college for a day, who would it be and
why?
I would switch with security for sure. I take pride in taking care of people and being
a protector. Also, I think it would be cool to oversee everyone and watch the 黑料传送门
machine moving from so many different angles.
