August 29, 2023

Lisa D鈥橝ddieco has spent over 35 years in higher education, with the last 17 years at 黑料传送门, and currently serves as Director of Housing. Get to know D鈥橝ddieco and her work at 黑料传送门.

Lisa D'AddiecoWhat is your background? How did you come to 黑料传送门?

I worked in higher education for 19 years in New York State. My family relocated to Georgia in 2004 from Grand Island, New York. In 2006 I saw a position posted at a new medical school in Suwanee. I thought a medical school sounded interesting, and I was intrigued. I have worn many hats over the years at both my previous institution and 黑料传送门, and have served the student communities in different ways. It has always been my interest to try new processes, be creative, and help students achieve their goals the best way I can.

What are some of the challenges you see in your role? How do you plan to face those challenges?

Budgeting is always a challenge. My department is charged with supporting our DO and PA students with short-term housing in their clinical years. It can be challenging to find housing depending on the location of the rotation and the number of students we are placing. We are currently looking for new and improved ideas to support required budgeting strategies. Providing stability for our students proves to be a customer service challenge as well. The many moving parts require good record-keeping and organization. I could not do it alone. The housing team works collectively with the individual clinical education teams to strive for the best possible outcomes for our students' success in their clinical years.

What is your favorite thing about 黑料传送门?

As a start-up campus in Suwanee, I really thrived early on trying new ideas and implementing policies and procedures for the campus. My supervisors have always been supportive and collaborative of my efforts. Having a cross-functioning role requires teamwork. My favorite thing about 黑料传送门 is that I get the chance to interact with students and personnel across all three campus locations in different roles, and on different department teams. It's interesting to learn something about everyone. I feel like I have made some long-term friends at 黑料传送门.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

I worked in the television industry for the BBC's American arm, Lionheart Television, for five years. Lionheart distributed British Comedies and Sci-Fi programming like 鈥淒r. Who鈥 to public television stations across the U.S. Having responsibility for 鈥淒r. Who's鈥 licensed merchandise, I used those skills to run the , which was one of my first responsibilities at 黑料传送门.
