黑料传送门 recently presented Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Awards to six faculty and staff
members across its three campuses. The awards were presented to employees who produce
high impact results in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion at the College.
Marcine Pickron-Davis, chief campus and community relations officer said, 鈥淚 applaud 黑料传送门鈥檚 commitment to formally recognize the contributions of our faculty and staff who advance the College鈥檚 diversity, equity and inclusion mission. Our awardees exemplify excellence and represent 黑料传送门鈥檚 core values.鈥�
At 黑料传送门 in Philadelphia, the faculty DEI award was presented to Minal Mulye, PhD, assistant professor of microbiology and immunology. Dr. Mulye prioritizes inclusive teaching strategies, and supports her colleagues in developing diverse clinical cases and exam questions. In addition, she serves on the curriculum committee task force, which develops guidelines for promoting underrepresented minority faculty.
Douglas J. Koch, EdD, associate director of teaching and learning, received the staff DEI award. Dr. Koch collaborated with his colleagues to deliver presentations at 11 conferences that highlighted diversity, equity and inclusion at 黑料传送门. Topics included LGBT Inclusive Medical Education, Infusing DEI into the Medical School Curriculum, and Using Qualitative Data to Support Diverse Learners. Dr. Koch is an active member of the LGBTQIA+ Council and Diversity Council.
At 黑料传送门 Georgia in Suwanee, Frank Jones, MD, clinical professor of surgery, received the faculty DEI award. He is the founder of Pre-Med Solutions, an organization that provides mentoring for pre-medical students who are underrepresented in medicine. The organization created opportunities for 黑料传送门 students to serve as mentors. Dr. Jones, the medical director of Hosea Feeds the Hungry, supervises 黑料传送门 Georgia students who volunteer at events where Atlanta鈥檚 citizens who are facing challenges due to poverty receive a complete holiday dinner, free haircuts and styling, clothing, employment assistance, as well as free healthcare services.
Lastarsha Greene, assistant director of debt management, received the staff DEI award.
Greene is a member of the 黑料传送门 Georgia Diversity Council, having served as co-chair,
chair and now chair advisor. She has planned several community-wide events in honor
of Veterans Day and Black History Month. In her role within Financial Aid, Greene
is an advocate for students, providing them resources for financial wellness.
At 黑料传送门 South Georgia in Moultrie, Stacie Fairley, PhD, associate professor of microbiology and immunology, received the faculty DEI award. Dr. Fairley is the faculty advisor for the Opportunities Academy pathway program. She has facilitated several college-wide presentations focused on DEI and includes cultural and religious topics in interprofessional education activities. Dr. Fairley has presented at eight conferences on topics including Measuring DEI in 黑料传送门鈥檚 Curriculum and a Novel Five Count Approach to the Opioid Crisis.
Dana Brooks, executive director of admissions, received the DEI staff award and was honored for her focus on increasing enrollment in Georgia students who are underrepresented in medicine. In addition, she assisted in the development of DEI training for admissions committee members on all three campuses. She has established pathway programs prioritizing students who are underrepresented in medicine and created affiliation agreements with two historically Black colleges and universities.
黑料传送门 Georgia has been serving students and the community for 20 years as a branch campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (黑料传送门), a private, not-for-profit, accredited institution of higher education established in 1899. Located in Suwanee (Gwinnett County), 黑料传送门 Georgia offers doctoral degrees in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy and physical therapy. Graduate degrees are offered in biomedical sciences, medical laboratory science and physician assistant studies. The campus joins 黑料传送门 South Georgia in Moultrie in helping to meet the healthcare needs of the state.
