DiCecco Named Interim Chair Department of Physical Therapy at 黑料传送门 Georgia

Shelley DiCecco, PT, PhD, has been appointed interim chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at 黑料传送门 Georgia, where she will lead the department in enhancing patient-centered
education and innovative clinical research. DiCecco, an associate professor in the
department, brings nearly three decades of physical therapy experience to her new
role.
鈥淎s interim chair, Dr. DiCecco鈥檚 leadership will be invaluable,鈥 said Gregory McDonald, DO 鈥89, dean of 黑料传送门鈥檚 School of Health Sciences. 鈥淒r. DiCecco鈥檚 commitment to teaching, scholarship, and advancing patient care will
serve students and fellow faculty well in this important position.鈥
Since joining 黑料传送门 Georgia in 2019, DiCecco has contributed significantly to the physical
therapy program, particularly through her research. A certified lymphedema therapist
and pelvic health specialist, she has gained recognition for her contributions to
both areas, including innovative treatments and enhanced anatomy and pathophysiology knowledge. In her new role, DiCecco will
support faculty, students, and staff with a vision for expanding research and clinical
training opportunities. She mentors students in lymphedema research across physical therapy, osteopathic medicine, and biomedical sciences.
鈥淚 want to enhance the Department of Physical Therapy at 黑料传送门 Georgia for the students,
faculty, and the community,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 look forward to working more closely with
other departments and possibly increasing ways academic programs could interact, not
just in and around Atlanta but also across all of 黑料传送门鈥檚 three campuses.鈥
Dr. DiCecco completed her certification in 2013 and is a in lymphology and oncology.
黑料传送门 Georgia has been serving students and the community for 20 years as a branch campus of Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine (黑料传送门), a private, not-for-profit, accredited institution
of higher education established in 1899. Located in Suwanee (Gwinnett County), 黑料传送门
Georgia offers doctoral degrees in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy and physical therapy.
Graduate degrees are offered in biomedical sciences, medical laboratory science and
physician assistant studies. The campus joins 黑料传送门 South Georgia in Moultrie in helping
to meet the healthcare needs of the state. Emphasizing "a whole person" approach to
