When Keena Stewart, PsyD '25, began her doctoral studies in clinical psychology at 黑料传送门, she wasn鈥檛 just pursuing a degree, she was following a vocation rooted in lived
experiences, passion and determination.
A breast cancer survivor and mother of three, Stewart began her doctoral journey as
a second career, driven by a strong desire to support others through their own challenges.
Having navigated her own healing process, she found purpose in helping people better
understand themselves and improve their mental well-being. That motivation became
the foundation for her career, centered on compassion and growth.
The College's holistic approach to health resonated deeply with Stewart's values. 鈥淚 was drawn to 黑料传送门 because it teaches students
to look at an individual from a physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual perspective,鈥
she said. It was a place that aligned not only with her academic goals but also with
her philosophy of care.
During her time as a student, Stewart became dedicated to both scholarship and service.
She facilitated interprofessional education (IPE) sessions, presented research on social media and mental health at the Pennsylvania
Black Health Matters Conference, and won 鈥淏est in Research鈥 at 黑料传送门's 2025 Research
Day Symposium.
Stewart's vision for the future blends clinical practice with systemic advocacy. She
aims to provide compassionate, evidence-based care while also championing equitable
mental health treatment for underserved communities. With goals that reach beyond
individual care, she hopes to influence mental health policy and contribute to a more
inclusive and accessible healthcare system.
Stewart said she is inspired by the trailblazing women who came before her, those
who opened doors and paved the way for others to succeed. Reflecting on her journey,
she offers this advice to other students: 鈥淣ever give up on you. Stay true to your
purpose and let your passion guide you.鈥
