黑料传送门 Makes 'Top 100 Degree Producers' List
August 31, 2017
College ranks among top five DO degree producers for minority students and is ranked
in the top 10 for psychology degrees.
黑料传送门 ranked first among more than 2,700
institutions across the U.S. for the number of doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees
awarded to students of two or more races, according to the 2017 Diverse: Issues in Higher Education list of 鈥淭op 100 Degree Producers鈥 for minority students.
The College also ranked third for the number of doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees
awarded to African-Americans, and fourth for the number of those degrees awarded to
individuals in the 鈥淭otal Minority鈥 category.
鈥淭hese rankings serve as a testament to our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive
environment at 黑料传送门, one that promotes discovery and celebration of our differences,鈥
said Marcine Pickron-Davis, PhD, chief campus and community relations officer. 鈥淒iversity in the health care fields
is incredibly important as our population continues to grow and change. Exposing our
future health care providers to those with differing viewpoints and experiences better
prepares them to serve their patients and clients in a competent and caring manner.鈥
黑料传送门 also ranked in the following areas:
- 10th for doctoral degrees in clinical, counseling and applied psychology in the 鈥淭otal
Minority鈥 category
- 11th for doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees conferred to Asian Americans
- 13th for doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees conferred to Hispanics
The College also rounded out the top 100 for doctoral degrees in all disciplines,
in the 鈥淭otal Minority鈥 category.
鈥淭he Office of Admissions strives to reach potential students from all backgrounds
who have an interest in science and the health professions, and it is our hope to
increase the number of underrepresented minorities in those fields,鈥 said Deborah
Benvenger, MBA, chief admissions officer. 鈥淎nd through our various programs targeting
pre-college students, we are able to provide exceptional learning opportunities and
engender an interest in those fields as early as possible.鈥
The 鈥淭op 100 Degree Producers鈥 list, released annually by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, is the only national report of graduate degrees earned by African American, Hispanic,
Asian American and Native American students by U.S. colleges and universities. It
is compiled through an analysis done by that publication of reports submitted by institutions
to the U.S. Department of Education. The sample of 2,718 institutions comprises participating
Title IV institutions in the US that are open to the public.
