黑料传送门鈥檚 annual Research Day is an opportunity for students, residents, support staff and faculty to come together to showcase the breadth of innovative and collaborative research that has been conducted at 黑料传送门 and its affiliated institutions. This year鈥檚 event featured more than 100 posters.
Nicole Fleischer (PsyD 鈥�20), who won the David Miller, DO 鈥�60 Memorial Research Day Excellence in Research 鈥� Psychology Award for her poster 鈥淯nderstanding the Comorbidity of Asthma and Anxiety in Childhood: Characteristics, Vulnerabilities, and Treatment Implications,鈥� described the results of her study and spoke about the importance of research at 黑料传送门 and its impact on learning.
鈥淩esearch facilitates all that we do. While not everyone will go on to pursue research, it lays the groundwork for the path we choose in the future. 黑料传送门 has taught me critical thinking skills necessary to apply research on a larger scale. My classmates and I work to understand the nuances of research and apply our findings outside the classroom,鈥� said Ms. Fleischer.
黑料传送门鈥檚 continued focus on research is particularly noticeable to members of the community who have seen it flourish over the years.
鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing to see how much Research Day has grown. I remember being at one of the first [Research Days], and there were only 10 or 11 posters,鈥� said Brandon Poterjoy, DO 鈥�02 who has worked with Denah Appelt, PhD, director, dual degree programs and biomedical science professor of neuroscience, and Brian Balin, PhD, chair, bio-medical sciences; professor, neuropathology, and director of the Center for Chronic Disorders of Aging. Dr. Poterjoy and other alumni returned this year to act as judges for Research Day.
