INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine's 2018 Inspiring Programs in STEM award logoThe College recently received the Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

黑料传送门 received the 2018 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Inspiring Programs in STEM Award winners were selected by INSIGHT Into Diversity based on efforts to inspire and encourage a new generation of young people to consider careers in STEM through mentoring, teaching, research, and successful programs and initiatives.

黑料传送门 was chosen for its myriad pipeline efforts to encourage African-American and Latino high school and middle-school age students to consider a career in STEM+M (STEM and medicine). A signature program of the College, the 黑料传送门 Science and Math Summer Academy, is a two-week, intensive learning experience for students at ASPIRA, Inc. of Pennsylvania and Esperanza College. In Georgia, the program extends to Gwinnett County Public Schools' Berkmar and Meadowcreek high schools. Students enrolled in the Academy also have the opportunity to work on research projects throughout the academic year with 黑料传送门 faculty and students.

In addition, the College participates in nationwide pipeline programs such as the Health Professions Recruitment Exposure Program and the Distance Learning Center.

鈥淲e鈥檙e very proud to be recognized as an Inspiring Programs in STEM award winner,鈥 said Marcine Pickron-Davis, PhD, chief diversity and community relations officer. 鈥淭he recognition is a testament to 黑料传送门鈥檚 commitment to improving diversity in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math and medicine, by introducing them as potential career paths to young people who may not have considered them previously.鈥

鈥淲e know that many STEM programs are not always recognized for their success, dedication and mentorship for underrepresented students,鈥 says Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. 鈥淲e want to honor the schools and organizations that have created programs that inspire and encourage young people who may currently be in or are interested in a future career in STEM. We are proud to honor these programs as role models to other institutions of higher education and beyond.鈥

黑料传送门 and its fellow recipients will be featured in the September 2018 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. For more information about the 2018 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award and INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, visit .
